The Story
“Ruby Holden writes songs the way people write letters they actually mean to send. Honestly, and without holding back.”
She is seventeen, from Queanbeyan just outside Canberra, and she has already played stages that most musicians spend years working toward. In January 2026 she placed third in the Best of the Buskers competition at the Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival, chosen from nearly five hundred performers to play the main stage.
The 2025 Australian National Busking Champion. A 2024 CMAA Junior Academy Graduate. A Bluesfest 2025 finalist. She has shared stages with Felicity Urquhart, Josh Cunningham, and opened for Kasey Chambers.
Her music sits somewhere between the storytelling of Paul Kelly, the warmth of Norah Jones, and the indie country spirit of Fanny Lumsden. Warm, honest, and quietly powerful.
